Use of open source in enterprises and products

Open source technologies cannot be discontinued. The Linux operating system kernel and all required system tools are free of license fees. Thus technology and price monopolies are avoided. In the service provision model replacing the license model for proprietary software in the open source sector, service providers may be chosen and changed freely. This and the extendable open source code protect product development and corporate investments during the entire life cycle.
